How to get permission to enter

1. Choose the correct visa category for your purpose (tourist, business, student, work, transit).
2. Book an appointment at the embassy, consulate or official visa application centre.
3. Prepare the supporting documents in the checklist below.
4. Attend your appointment for biometrics (fingerprints and photo) if required.
5. Allow processing time — often 2–8 weeks, longer in peak season.

Easier routes with a visa or residence permit you already hold

Indian citizens who hold one of these documents may enter Türkiye without applying for a regular visa.

  With a valid Schengen, US, UK, Irish visa or a Schengen, US, UK, Irish residence permit.

  • Your visa must be a sticker in your passport, or a physical residence card — electronic visas and e-residence permits are not accepted
  • Enter Türkiye by air (not land borders) within the validity of that visa or permit
  • Carry a return ticket, hotel booking, travel insurance and at least US$50 per day
  • Tourism or business only
  • Citizens of Cape Verde, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Palestine, Senegal and Yemen must fly Turkish Airlines or Pegasus (Egypt also AJet, EgyptAir, Air Cairo)
  • Algerian citizens must be under 18 or over 35
